IELTS WRITING TASK 2 - job satisfaction

As most people spend a major part of their adult life at work, job satisfaction is an important element of individual wellbeing. What factors contribute to job satisfaction? How realistic is the expectation of job satisfaction for all workers?

Frequent job-hopping, usually regarded as a beacon of disloyalty in the past, is now becoming more and more acceptable amid people, which arouses concerns about what factors result in such a low job satisfaction. As far as I am concerned, three elements account for a large proportion of job satisfaction.

First of all, a clear career path, which means a planned timetable of progression within the company is available to its employers, ranks the top of the list, because it provide people with hope by embodying different works you should do in different stages. That is why although works in KPMG, the biggest accounting firm established in 1987, may exhaust one person, there are also a growing number of graduates eager to be employed.

Then, needless to say, salary is another important factor that affects people’s satisfaction towards jobs, and this may be the main reason which results in the high job-hopping rate. As Vespasian says” Money has no smell.” So it is everyone’s rights to claim payment for his work. When the payment fails to meet their expectations, it is not a deplorable choice for people to resign in order to find a better one.

Last but by no means least, the relationship between colleagues cannot be neglected either. The significance of salary diminishes when compared to happiness. Were there full of bicker with my collages, which bereaves me of the happiness, I would rather choose a job with harmonious relations despite of a lower payment.

Today, however, although the job-hopping rate declines, owing to the economic crisis currently engulfing the world, there is a slim possibility for all workers to be satisfied by their jobs, because the desire for people to woo a better life never ends, and maybe that is how the world keeps on developing.
