How do you think
of ads in
your country?
Nowadays, it is
quite common to see ads in mass media, such as TV, Internet and so forth. To
some extent, ads do facilitate us in our daily life. For example, it provides
us with information of latest products, and information of when and where there
will be a promotion.
But as far as I am
concerned, though I agree that advertised brands are better than those brands
that are not advertised, it also arise problems. For instance, by making
consumers to imagine they can own the same life style in the ads, producers
sell themselves and ignore their disadvantages to
make product looks or sounds good, which mislead consumers. And there seems to
be a growing number of consumers believe products do not perform as well as ads
claim.
At the
same time, I also felt much of advertising is way too annoying. Though given that
we watch television for a significant number of hours per day, the commercials
affords people time to go to the bathroom or make a snack for themselves, television
commercials disrupt the flow of televised films and during live broadcasts of
sports events, television commercials seem to have the uncanny ability to
appear just when something significant develops in the event.
Consequently,
I reckon that the successful communication depends not solely on the sender
delivering the message, but the recipient has to be receptive. It is high time
for producers to find a more appropriate way to advertise their products.
