IELTS SPEAKING PART 2 - A Traditional Event

A Traditional Event
Describe an important traditional event (in your culture/country).
You should say:
when this event is held  it actually spans at least a whole week, which is the first week of chinese new year.
who attends this event  I suppose all chinese people including chinese immigrants will celebrate this event, particularly those geriatric individuals
what people do during this event
People used to celebrate in the streets with a big parade. But now it is reduced to clean and decorate our room in order to usher in a new year. Apart from this, children can receive ‘red envelops’ from their parents and grandparents.

and explain why this event is important.
This event is of the utmost importance in CN because of the tradition.
1the history of this festival is probably as long as that of Chinese nation, which I suppose that it could date back to more than 2000 years BC. So its roots had become so firmly embedded in our mind that hardly anything could shake it. For example, it is extremely common to find Chinese people around the country to embark on the return trip to their homes a few weeks before the spring festival. Some individuals even sit in a crowded, smelly train for more than 48 hours just in order to celebrate the reunion with their family.

2Another reason why this festival is important is that a lot of our economy is planned around it. The reason behind this is that usually Chinese companies would award a big year-end bonus just like western companies and also as a cultural norm, Chinese individuals tend to buy new cloths or issue red envelops to their child, In addition to this, considering that the holiday stretches for 7 days, most people would exploit such a golden opportunity to travel around, which in turn may yield handsome profits to certain industries.
