9.Some people believe
that sports should be a symbolic meaning of the national power. However,
others believe participating in those sports games individually is more meaningful
for people. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.
Never before in
history have people payed so much attention to exercises in the pursuit of
personal health. Some individuals argue that sports should symbolically indicate
power of a nation, whereas others deem that it is of greater significance to
participate in sports for personal purpose. Both views will be analysed in this
essay before a conclusion is drawn.
On the one hand,
sports do to some extent reflect power of one nation. For example, the number
of medals that one country wins in Olympics Games seems roughly in tandem with its
comprehensive national power, such as United States,
China and United Kindom. This explains why those people hold the view
that sports is a symbolic indication of national power. Thus, based on the example
above, their arguments seem hard to debunk.
On the other hand, there seems to be an increasing
amount of people reckon that doing exercise is more significant to individuals
than to a nation. For instance, the number of people taking exercise after
dinner is growing rapidly in China in recent years. This trend parallels with
the volume of exercising facilities in China, where it used to spend most of
its funds on elitist athletes. Thus, the growing awareness regarding
personal benefits has been seen, which illustrates why more and more people
aggregate towards this view.
To recapitulate,
after analysing different views on sports, it can be safely concluded that
although both areas are beneficiaries of sports, its significance to individual
should be prioritised. Therefore, it is hoped that more and more people would participate
in sports.
