Arts
1. Do you like art? (Why?/Why not?)
I’m afraid not…because I could hardly appreciate it.
This might be due to the lack of education in the art area in china, where all
student are awfully busy in preparing for the national college entrance exam.
2. What form of art do you like the most?
I suppose it would be film, because it is much easier
to understand, and less abstract compared to a piece of painting.
3. What kind of art are you best at?
Well, I’m anything but an artist, so I’m afraid I am
not skilled at any form of art.
4. In your childhood, what experience of art
did you have?
5. Did you ever produce any artwork (or, works
of art) when you were a child?
Well, I studied sketch for 2 years, but I abandoned
that after I enter my senior high school, so I can hardly draw as good as I
could.
6. Do you ever buy (or, have you ever bought) a
painting?
Never did I buy any paintings due the exorbitant high
price. And even I purchased them I cannot appreciate them.
7. Do you think art is an important part of
life?
Yes, but for me I suppose it would be better to tackle
more practical problems, like achieving a good mark in my studies and find a
decent job in the future, after which maybe I will cultivate my sense of art.
8. What benefits does art bring to people?
It may extricate people from their daily routines and
provide us with another view of life.
9. How important do you think art is in the
lives of people?
Well, as for artists, this would be their job in order
to put food on the table, but as for ordinary people who are still struggling
to achieve a decent lifestyle, then I suppose it would be less significant than
other daily routines like working or investing.
10. Why do you think people like to have a
painting in their homes?
Maybe it may create a convivial atmosphere at home,
which makes the owner feel content.
Entertainment
1. What do you do for entertainment?
Usually I would play computer games for leisure when I
am free.
2. What did you do for entertainment when you
were a child?
At that time I usually play with my neighbourhood
outside, due to the less developed technology, otherwise we would play computer
games together.
3. What do (other) people do for entertainment
around where you live?
Well, actually the relationship between neighbours in
china is less intimate than it was before, so I hardly know what they do
everyday. Thus I also have no idea what their preference for entertainment.
4. What choices for entertainment are there for
young people around where you live?
Well, by and large young people’s preference for
leisure would probably the same in today’s world because of the highly
developed technology. They tend to be favour of computer games.
5. Are there any entertainment places near your
school (or university)?
Well, in my bachelor degree in china, there are some
internet cafes around my university. But I hardly went there.
6. Have you recently been to any place for
entertainment?
Well, I’m afraid not, because the subjects in third
semester are quite hard for most students so I’d prefer to focus on my courses.
7. Do you think modern lifestyles give people
enough time for leisure?
In china, I’m afraid not, because the intolerable
pressure placed on people dictates people to work hard in order to have a
relatively decent lifestyle.
