We were brought up to believe that human beings are
superior to animals. Today, however, gone are the days when people could kill
animals at will or even exercise experiments on animals. Dissenters claim that
humans have no moral right to test on animals, whereas consenters deem that it yields
beneficial outcomes. I personally reckon that the benefits prevail over its
disadvantages.
Admittedly,
calls for ceasing animal testing sound valid, and I hole-heartedly agree with
some points. For instance, opponents argue that lives of animals should also be
respect, and there are alternative methods available for scientific
experiments.
Nevertheless,
we do not need to look far to realise that these drawbacks pale in comparison
when considering its numerous benefits.
